Empower 2009 conference of Christian ministries working in Africa on issues
of gender, marriage, and family
This message contains important information about the program and
accommodations for the Empower 2009 conference for ministries working in
Africa around issues of gender, marriage, and family (including the welfare
of children).
This is a conference in the original sense of the word, that is, a
group of people with similar callings who are gathered together to learn
from each other’s experiences and insights. As such, we will have no
speakers or formal presentations.
Rather, we will structure our interactions so we all have maximum
time to get acquainted and learn from each other.
On the registration sheet I ask for your ideas about the important
issues you would like to discuss with conference participants.
You need not be part of a formal organization, or have been to Africa
yet, to participate in the conference.
In fact, the networking we hope the conference will provide will be
of most benefit to those of us who are working as individuals or small
ministries.
Empower is also offering its
New Man, New Woman, New Life seminar beginning April 20.
If you are interested in attending this as well, please indicate on
the registration form.
WHEN:
April 24, 12:00- 5:00 pm
April 25, 10:00- 5:00 pm
The conference will begin with a luncheon and special speaker from
Africa at noon on April 24.

If you cannot attend, please let us know that as well.

represent your organization, please forward this message to them.
PREPARATION
FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION: Please
prepare two very “short version” presentation (five minutes maximum).
One presentation will explain what you or your ministry do.
The second presentation should be on what you have learned about
working in Africa. Don’t worry
– we know five minutes isn’t enough.
People will have an opportunity to follow up with you.

Whether or not you are able to physically attend the conference, we

compilation, which will also include conference proceedings.
We will also post this information on our website.
